Use BlogStomp to post directly to your blog
BlogStomp is no longer our flagship blogging software, as we have replaced it with Storytailor.
We are still supporting the BlogStomp software and its users, but BlogStomp is no longer available for purchase. Learn more about Storytailor HERE.
Most blogging platforms can automatically post via email.
This works by having a secret email address that your blog checks before turning an email it receives into a blog post. Cool ha?
You’ll need to set up your blog to read that email account. The good news is though, all BlogStomp needs is that secret email address.
WordPress
Most WordPress blogs now have remote publishing enabled by default, which makes your job easy. There’s nothing to do but test the connection between BlogStomp and your blog.
Select WordPress from the drop down menu, enter your blog details (URL, username, password etc), and hit the ‘Test Connection’ button.
Blogger
Your Blogger account has a secret email assigned to it which you’ll find in the Blogger settings.
Tumblr
Just grab your secret email address from the Tumblr settings page under ‘post by email’ and enter it into the secret email field in BlogStomp.
LiveJournal
On the mobile post settings page on LiveJournal, set an allowed sender address and an authentication method (details on how to do this here).
The email address you set up is the one to enter into the secret email address field in BlogStomp.
Expression Engine
The email address you want is the specific email address you’ve set up as your Moblog account. For more info click here.
Movable Type
To post to your Movable Type blog, you’ll need to use a plugin called Post Office (you can get it from here) that allows you to post to their blog via email.
It works by connecting Movable Type to an existing email account, like GMail or any POP or IMAP compliant mailbox, and periodically scanning for messages to post.
Each user can be given a unique email address to which to post to uniquely identify them and the blog they want to post to when sending an email.
Other
If you’re blogging platform isn’t specified in the Blog Type drop down list, select the Other option. Then, fill in the Blog Name, Your Email and enter your Secret Email. Hit Ok, and you’re away laughing. And posting.
Happy Stomping!!
